Ceftriaxone and Tazobactam Sodium Injection
Ceftriaxone in combination with Tazobactam is a third generation, semi-synthetic broad spectrum bactericidal cephalosporin with broad spectrum efficacy against wide range of gram positive and gram negative bacteria.
Ceftriaxone is bactericidal in action resulting from inhibition of cell wall synthesis. Ceftriaxone has high degree of stability in the presence of beta lactamase, both pencillinases and cephalosporinases of gram negative and positive bacteria. Tazobactam Sodium is a penicillanic acid sulphone and a beta-lactamase inhibitor which irreversibly inhibits beta lactamase produced by clinically important gram –ve, gram +ve aerobic or anaerobic bacteria. Tazobactam penetrates into many types of body tissues and fluids and in combination with ceftriaxone, it broadens the spectrum of ceftriaxone to include many beta lactamase producing organism including those which are resistant to ceftriaxone alone. Cefro-T a combination of Ceftriaxone and tazobactam demonstrates a synergistic activity in variety of gram positive, gram negative, aerobic and anaerobic bacteria.
